Did you know textile fibres come from trees? M&S supports a future that reduces the impact of cellulose-based textiles, such as viscose, rayon, lyocell and modal. Our aim at M&S is to only use responsibly sourced raw materials and where we face challenges, we’re working with the wider industry and non-profit organisations to find solutions.
Viscose is our third biggest raw material in our Clothing & Home business, and we are working with our partners to ensure protection of the world’s remaining ancient and endangered forests and endangered species habitat. We also support the use of alternative fibres that have a reduced environmental footprint, such as using recycled textiles and agricultural waste as a feedstock.
